Your application will time out soon

Before you start

Your proxy must be eligible to vote on your behalf.

This means they must:

  • be registered to vote in the UK
  • have photo ID if they are voting in person
  • be proxy to no more than 4 people including you. No more than 2 of those people can be living in the UK

You must:

  • confirm with your proxy that they’re eligible and can vote for you
  • have contact details for your proxy, including the UK address where they are registered to vote

What you’ll need to provide

You’ll need:

  • the UK address where you are registered to vote
  • your National Insurance number or other identity documents, for example a passport
  • the specific date of the election or referendum you want to make a proxy vote, if you only want a one-off proxy vote
  • an image of your signature written with a pen during this application

How to provide your signature image

Your signature must:

  • be signed in black ink on plain white paper
  • look the same as it normally does
  • not be written with a stylus or finger on a screen
You might find it easier to prepare an image now, or apply on a mobile phone with a camera.

Get help uploading a signature image

If you cannot provide a signature or one that always looks the same, you can apply for a signature waiver within the service. Your Electoral Registration Office will decide if you’re eligible.

If you cannot upload an image, download and fill in a proxy vote application form (opens in a new tab).
